At MMS we feel very strongly about developing skills in the culinary arts. Food is a fundamental need and the ability to prepare and cook nutritious foods is a very important life long skill. Beginning in Casa, students are introduced to baking and cutting. Learning continues in the elementary program where many children, ‘crack their first egg’ , learn how to safely handle a knife to develop their cutting skills, use a stove-top and oven, measure correctly, learn how to read and follow a recipe, and how to clean up their workspace once finished. Once the students reach Erdkinder they become part of a team that plans, shops, and bakes weekly to sell goods at their cafe. They also make and serve soup once a week as a lunch program for the students and staff.
